I use Avast purchased Internet Security program and trying to update its firewall within decade
But after manual update I restart the machine and fail to start up to windows and it’s interpreted Blue screen and continuously restart.
Then to resolve issue have to log in to safe mode and restore into it’s earlier status.
Pleas help me
I use WinXpPro
See Bellow 2 images
There is no update firewall as such, that is a component of your AIS Program. Your update shows that the Program and virus definitions are the latest, so that is fine.
Your problem isn’t that it isn’t updating but that the firewall isn’t starting (turned off).
What happens when click on the Turn on option on the first image ?
What did you have before installed before you bought the AIS program ?
If avast what version number/build was it, 4.8.1368, 5.0.677, 5.1.x, what ?
Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You may need to reboot after the repair.
Yes., But Can’t Turn On it
When I click on it pup the msg and tells me that “firewall not available” (See Image Nr.3)
No., this is a clean installation on new windows Xp Os witch I was installed after formatting the HD
I do all of them., but after reboot result is same. windows doesn’t want to start up. flickering blue screen and reboot itself. it reboots continually itself first to come it’s welcome screen.
to resolve the issue I have to start up in safe mode and restore to it’s earlier status.
After that all those chaos that famous avast icon (right side in bottom try) show me that avast isn’t fully protected. (See Image Nr.4)
My problem is to use to windows have to turn off (itself) avast firewall.
Otherwise windows does not start up normally.
There is a conflict with avast firewall updater.
I think that with your having used ‘system restore’ (presumably) in safe mode to set it back to its earlier status you may have to reinstal ?
If it isn’t using system restore, what do you mean by “I have to start up in safe mode and restore to it’s earlier status.” ?
If you have used system restore it may be best to do a clean reinstall of AIS.
-
Download the latest version of avast, 5.1.889 AIS http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_ais.exe and save it to your HDD, somewhere you can find it again (if you didn’t save your last download). Use that when you reinstall.
-
Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, aswClear5.exe find it here and save it to your HDD (it has uninstall tools for both 4.8 and 5.x).
-
- Now uninstall avast! (using add remove programs, if you can’t do that start from the next step), reboot.- 2. run the avast! Uninstall Utility from safe mode, first for 4.8 if previously installed and then for 5.x, once complete reboot into normal mode.- 3. install the latest version, reboot.
Yes. Yes. it mean that I have to log into safe mode to remove (using windows System Restore) newly installed Avast update.
That’s All.
Ok. I will try it from this 2nd option
OK, hopefully it will give you a clean uncorrupted start point to install from.
Now Problem is Worse
I installed new copy of Avast and after reboot it problem in same and worse.
This time i used “last known good configuration option to log in to windows”
Then as follows
When I click start program (img nr.6) do nothing.
Next I click to FIX NOW button and it’s pup up new msg “the following components not be started - Firewall” (img nr.6)
When I click Start button (Img nr.5) it’s pup up new msg “Unable to start the file System Shield! Shield unreachable”
So you did everything in the order that they were given in steps 1,2 and 3.
If so I’m at a loss as to what is going on in your system. Have you installed any other security software, firewall, anti-spyware, etc. and if so what ?
No. bypass step 1 and done from 2 option
I never installed any other program witch u intend.
I told that this is clean Install of windows
Whilst I would have hoped it wouldn’t made any difference as the purpose of the uninstall utility is if you ‘can’t use’ the regular add remove programs (step 1), but if it is available I would use it first.
I’m not sure what you mean by “I told that this is learn Install of windows” ?
learn ---- >>> clean
I corrected it
Any way I uninstalled Avast and reinstalled it no…
I don’t mention there are any differences between them.
After I done some updates successfully through Add/Remove program
But, isn’t update Firewall at all
here is the log file
AvastLog06022011.rtf
Unfortunately, I don’t use the AIS version so I’m not familiar with it and haven’t come across this before.
From your log, this is the area of the problem:

I don’t know why this is happening or what this error/value means “returned 0x80070005”
This is the only other topic that I can find with this returned value 0x80070005, http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=64074.0.
