Can't update or uninstall

When I do, I get an error to this effect:

Error reading product data from C:\program files\alwil software\avast5\setup\part-setup_ais-509.vpx. Setup cannot continue. Can’t update virus definitions or uninstall. Not sure how to fix. Any ideas? Tried installing definitions manually, get the same error.
