Can't update the virus definitions after 22.2.6003

Hi,

I’ve seen no posts on the matter so I’m wondering this is happening on my system alone, but since the update to version 22.2.6003 I can’t update the virus definitions anymore.
The last installed update is 220314-0.

Had no luck both with Troubleshooting/RepairApp or installing again from a newly-downloaded 22.2.6003 offline installer.

I have Premium Security (paid). Current program version is 22.2.6003 (build 22.1.6921.717).
Strangely enough on the About page the program version is 22.1.2504 with the same build as above… :o

The PC is a slightly old Win10 32bit machine. No other AV programs installed in the past, only Avast.

Can you provide screenshots of “About” (Menu>Settings>About) and “Update” (Menu>Settings>General>Update)

I knew that could eventually lead to troubles so I anticipated your question 8)

No other AV programs installed in the past, only Avast.

Right now both Microsoft Defender (now +Antivirus) and MalwareBites are installed on the same machine but they are - and they’ve always been - kept in OFF state and without scheduling so they should not affect the Avast update process.
At least, they never did in many many years.

For completion: all updates are set to “manual” - but I doubt this could be the culprit.

  1. Download Avast Premium Security: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_premium_security_setup_offline.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.
