When I try to update it says that “The specified module could not be found” “Cannot start incremental update”
Please help >:(
- Don’t cry.
- Search the forum before you post.
- Copy setiface.ovr or setiXXXXXXXX.vpu (where XXXXXXXX is an hexadecimal number) to setiface.dll. Do that in avast4\setup directory.
Thanks for coming kubecj. Could you tell us why this is happening, I mean, the reason for so many updates troubles in last weeks?

I have no clue what you are talking about???
Not really good with software.
I’ve gotta admit NIU80, I looked at Kubes post and thought I was in an Australian Lager forum
I’m sure he’ll come back with the simple answer
OK, let’s explain that in more details (and decency :)):
There are two possible solutions of your problem:
Either
- copy the file called setiface.ovr or setiXXXXXXXX.vpu (where the X’s are some numbers) to setiface.dll, all in the \setup directory. Then retry running the update.
Or
2) download the latest avast installation package from http://www.avast.com/iavs4pro/setupeng.exe (I hope you’re using the English version of avast) and run it on the machine.
That will repair the installation and also update it to the latest version for you.
I apologize for the inconvenience.

Thanks that was much better and it worked to. ;D :o ;D
it didn’t work for me
off to the homepage I go…
CoJo
CoJo,
Darlin’ you just can’t catch a break can you? It’s occurred to me that it would be easier if you junked your PC and bought a Mac. But where would the fun be in that? Anyway, God bless you for persevering. And so long as you do, so will we.
Regards,
Hornus
Hornus, my next computer will come with a human standing next to me giving me orders on what to do…
I did turn off EG and updated ;D
bless you for sticking by me
CoJo
I would be happy if Hornus teach you how to update without disabling the firewall 8)
;D…yeah, but the man who would come with my new computer would give me back rubs too
CoJo
You are using the EZ firewall or something like that.
I use ZoneAlarm (and tried Sygate and Kerio some time ago).
Unfortunately, I don’t know how it works.
In general speaking, the firewall must alert you that a program wants to connect the Internet (access rights). You can see and aprove it or not.
When some program asks for server rights (or the be connected from the Internet), does not allow it.
If this firewall is an ‘inteligent’ one, rule based, I mean, you built rules for the firewall to work… Then this is not with me. I like simple software, easy to understand. Complicated and difficult things are with techie and other members…
Bye.
Technical.
Technical, this really is an easy one…I’m using it so its got to be ;D
it was very easy to set up…I actually understood what to do 8)
CoJo
Technical and cojo stay away from blackICE its GUI is far from user Friendly but the software is effective
Mac…it’s working and not broken so I won’t fool around with it 8)
cojo
question does that EZ firewall have a mac version Im still looking for a firewall for my 2 macs
Thanks for your advice… I do not intend to use BlackICE…
me, either! I’m going to stick with this one
