avast no longers automatically updates anymore for me. Also, whenever I try doing it manually (right clicking and choosing the update menu) it does nothing. I don’t even hear my computer load.
Plus, I’ve tried just downloading the newest version, but when I try and install that, it won’t even get to the installer.
I really don’t know, there is little information to go on.
What OS have you got?
What version of avast are you using?
What firewall do you have?
Did you uninstall the current version before you tried to install the latest version?
Did you get any error messages along the way?
Did you try a repair of avast? Add Remove programs, avast! Anti-Virus, Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this.
Used Kerio for a while before it started blocking my web browser for no reason (which, BTW, was after my first post, but before this one). Now I’m using the default XP firewall.
I don’t get it. I had the original version I got a while ago. It automatically updated for a good year, then stopped. I can’t update manually, and the installer wont work for a new version.
No error message ever appears, even in the next one…
Where I tried to change/remove. It actually wont open, and won’t let me get to the option screen where it has repair and remove and reinstall.
To be honest, I doubt any of this information was needed, but if it helps, there it is.
So I guess I can’t uninstall it either (at least, threw windows).
Avast did update automatically in the past. For that matter, when I downloaded one of the XP service packs, windows closed my internet connection without me knowing. When I called Comcast to find out whats up, and they walked me threw it, we figured my connection was good when avast announced the new updates.
I mean that after I download the newest version of Avast, I doubleclick it, I see a brief load screen (the one that shows papers moving from file to file) and then it stops. I don’t get to the installer, and as such, don’t get to overinstall.
