I have avast 4.7 and vista home premium. I’ve installed avast buy I am unable to update through internet. I’ve tried everything from disabling the firewall to adding all of the avast .exe as exceptions with no avail. This must be a vista+ firewall issue because I have problems with other programs too like yahoo messenger and norton which I had before but is uninstalled. Unfortunately if firewall is on or off I do not get an option to let the program throgh Any help would be appreciated
I finally figured it out. It was norton. I ran a complete uninstall and now everything works

Beware NAV may well come back to haunt you as there are occasions where remnants, registry device drivers aren’t completely removed. But, you have got past the important hurdle now avast is working properly you are probably OK.
