Can't Update

Hi,
Hope someone can help me!I have Avast installed and running on our Win 98 computer and every few minutes a warning Window comes up with the following…THE LICENCE KEY FOR THIS PRODUCT IS TEMPORILY DISABLED…
You system time/date has changed:fix it and enter the licence key again.
How do I that pls? I have the licence key already.Thanks.

Van

Double click on the clock/time at the bottom right that will open a window, check that the day month and year are correct, adjust as required.

I suggest an installation from the scratch:

  1. Uninstall avast from Control Panel first.
  2. Boot.
  3. Download the latest version of Avast Uninstall and use it for complete uninstallation.
  4. Boot.
  5. Install again the latest avast! version.
  6. Boot.
  7. Check and post the results.

Hi David R,
As you can see from my reply to Tech,my problem is more involved than adjusting the Clock! Thanks for the help.

Van

maybe your register key is out of date!you can register a new key!try it !

I doubt it since it’s good to 2009!Thanks.

Hi Tech,
I’m back,to report that I tried to redownload Avast the other day,and I had to stop after downloading 43 percent, and the next day I tried to Resume the Download with my FDM downloader and got ‘‘File not found on the server’’ ! Does this mean that Avast does not permit resuming?I’m on a slow Dialup connection which can’t be helped here.Thanks.

Van

As far I know you can resume.
Maybe download the same file name from files.avast.com server instead of the one you’re trying to do so.

Thanks Tech,
I,ll try ‘‘files.avast.com’’ as you suggest.

Van

Hi Tech,
I finally downloaded Avast (26,2 mb) and reinstalled as you suggested, and that solved the problem finally. Thanks so much for your help.

Van

Good. Glad I could help. Come back any time you need
