Cause for concern?

Occasionally when my computer boots up the avast tray icon is either gray for a second or is blue but has the red mark on it for a second before it returns to normal and begins to spin. Is this normal behavior sometimes during boot up or is it an indication of a problem? Other than the second or so of the icon being abnormal I have noticed no other ill effects.

XP Home with avast!, Threatfire, and ZoneAlarm running.

Thanks

Some see this temporary blip, I never have and it entirely depends on what else is loading at the time avast is also loading. Providing it does resolve itself (the red circle with bar over the avast icon) then I would say it isn’t a serious concern.

Threatfire has on occasion caused issues and not only with avast but other applications, a forum search for threatfire and it should reveal more information.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I was actually more worried about the gray icon than the blue icon with the red on it since I had never seen the gray icon before until a few days ago but the other one I had.

OK, I won’t worry to much about either icon then as you don’t seem to think it is an issue and it has always resolved itself after a second or so when it happens.

Thanks again.

Icon colour is one that is dependant on many things, icon size, graphics card, monitor, background, so it is highly variable. The icon it is more a blue grey (trying to emulate a 3d shine) than a vivid blue and frequently queried in the forums. image 1

I have recently got a new system and there is a marginally different colour, but still a blue grey. image 2
