Cazn't save emails. Not receiving emails to email client TBird.

I installed (what i thought was the free version of Avast 8 free AV). However it seems I have the demo of the suite: I have email controls, browser controls etc.

SO. My problem is that once I installed, emails stopped coming in (both gmails and bigpond accounts) . I went online to each email address and stuff was coming in. But my email client (Tbird_) was locking up trying to retrieve them.

Then I was sending an email and tried to save during composition and I was again refused access.

I seem to have a setup problem. Can somebody help?
