Hi, Folks: I run a utility called CCleaner that tells me, at present, I show 35 files containing 99,189 KB labeled as “Utilities = Avast Antivirus.” Would you be able to tell me whether or not I could clean out these files? Thank you, Pete Falina
I would say if you don’t know what you’re doing, you shouldn’t be using a cleaner.
The first thing you should look at is the location and name(s) of the files in question.
Avast does a fairly good job of doing it’s own housekeeping. Best to uncheck Avast in CCleaner.

You’ll see files labeled as ‘Utilities = Avast Antivirus’ in CCleaner after scan by Avast.
It is safe to delete them.
Personally I never allow CCleaner or any other such product to touch avast areas.
CCleaner isn’t very good at identifying what version of avast that you have and you will see many avast versions in its Applications - Utilities section. Why in hell it has a security program (and MBAM) in a Utilities section is beyond me and probably says more about its structure.
There are also many different programs that are neither installed or have been uninstalled a long time ago.
I’ve used CCleaner for over 6 years and AVAST for 5 of those years and I’ve never had any problem when using the the default CCleaner settings. CCleaner lists AVAST under Applications tab > Utilities. As DavidR has just said it isn’t very good at identifying the version and often lists more than one. But that doesn’t mean you can’t trust it.
If it is the OP’s first use of CCleaner then there is going to be a heap load of stuff that it will want to clean out. However if this is for a system regularly cleaned with CCleaner and these 35 files have suddenly appeared then that is unusual.
As others have said here AVAST does a fairly good job housekeeping and my own experience suggests that when used regularly CCleaner often doesn’t find any and rarely more than a couple of AVAST files to remove at any time.
So if this is unusual behaviour I’d definitely look at what files it wants to remove and if you’re unsure what is safe to delete then ask here first.
Users can set how long to keep logs, their size and when deleted.
