CCleanerSetup.exe

Avast found this uninstalled download that I believe I downloaded from zd net a few months ago to be malware win32downloader-crp{trj} from my main hard drive

this file was also contained on my backup drive and not detected in this same scan that included my backup drive

What is the best way to proceed?

delete the old file. download the new setup file from here. from here : http://www.ccleaner.com/download/builds/downloading-slim

update your avast! antivirus.

I never saw the installer called
CCleanerSetup.exe
Maybe a fake CCleaner, most probably, infected.
Delete both files (in the backup also).

The logical inconsistency with this strategy stems from the fact that the c drive contents were copied from the G drive.

The C drive is infected while the G drive was declared clean. The paradox being that infection is a copy of a file that was subsequently defined as clean.

Hi,
think, that this detection was fixed and was already released, so did you scan drive C and G with same VPS version? It shoud be caused by updating VPS between scanning C and G drive. Does Avast! still detect that file on C drive?

I moved the “infected” file to the chest.

I rescanned the file and no virus was today’s description
thus I am presuming that this was a corrected false positive

Thanks for feedback.

after rescanning and finding this file and another which was placed in the chest earlier to be clean (140600.msp) i tried to restore the quarantined files

the ccleaner file could not be restored and msp file shows that it was successfully restored however after restoration this file cannot be located on the computer

is there a way to find these manually and correct these issues?

Go into Chest, right click the file, Properties, check the original folder listed there.
