Sound like a silly question but what would be quicker?
I have a dual I just grabbed but my main is a p4. The Pentium is not hyper threading.

Ok I understand it low end. Which is better though a single core pentium or Dual core celeron
Reason I’m asking is because I was unable to get a benchmark comparison of the two.
a dual core can handle more work load. example if you virusprogram start sheduled scan when you work on something, you wont notice

Well in this cold weather an old Pentium 4 would be good for heating your house, they were notorious for running hot. I would just wonder if the Two are even pin compatible as the Celeron E1200 is a much newer processor and may be using a different CPU socket.
Edit: Pentium 4 socket 478 & Celeron E1200 socket 775, so they aren’t compatible if you are thinking of upgrading a pentium 4 to the Celeron e1200

Only -3c right now was -5c and my CPU Intel Core 2 Duo E8300 @ 2.83GHz 24 °C, so not much heat coming from there.
I wish I was in Norway right now, I could get some decent MuckLucs or felt tent boots, my feet are frozen.

Weirdly enough yes the two are compaitable as they are both Socket 775 LGA (Thanks to you guys for the amazing program- Speccy)
And either or I can just transfer the Processor over with the motherboard that came with it its an Asus P5VD2-VM SE

I was really shocked when I opened it up myself as I always seen pentium 4 as a male processor (with pins) but mine is flat with metal connectors.
Ok let me elaborate a little more, I want to use it for gaming.
Games like Team fortress 2 and borderlands.
No they look like oversize wellies (Wellington boots), but all white with lacing round them. They may well have been military only given that they are all white and not fashion items ;D
The newer processors have changed as pins tend to get bent if you are fitting them yourself and they are now more like studs that fit into recesses in the socket.

I have two mobo’s one Im running now and a new one the Dual core is in.
I ran a system requirements test but it failed (not sure if the program caught the dual core), just wondering if it would play the games at equilvenlent the speed or perhaps faster.
Both systems are up and running atm.
Well a celeron is never going to be up to most of the modern games, without turning down the frame rate and other graphical enhancements.
You don’t say what it failed on, but it may not be able to run it at a high enough frame rate to make the game run at a reasonable level or quality. The other aspect is your graphics card and what version of directX it is capable of running, so it isn’t all just your CPU, but a combination of things.
