Certified for Vista OR Works with Vista

Applications that have earned the “Certified for Windows Vista” logo

Applications that have earned the “Works with Windows Vista” logo

I noticed that avast! is on the “Works with Vista” list. Is the difference between the 2 lists a matter of money or, is there more to this?

I guess MS would have to test it to certify it and they would probably want paid to do the certification.

The certified list isn’t very big and surprisingly few Microsoft products on it ;D

“Certified” is basically the same as with “Certified for Windows XP”. A product that wants this logo needs to meet a number of criteria, some of which we don’t, and in fact, don’t really bother meeting, too.

For example, every “Certified for Vista” application must be installed/updated using Windows Installer - something we don’t really plan to do as we have invested lots of time and effort to make our updater quite robust and reliable…

Cheers
