Cheer,
have you tested the file at www.virustotal.com
what malware name does avast give the file?
Hello, yes, 16/42.
Mostly unknow or bitcoin miner.
Hello, I’m getting the same virus message.
I know that the file is safe because I’m the one using it for legitimate purposes, and its not part of a malware/virus pack.
Its a bitcoin mining utility.
http://bitcoin.org/en/ - here you can learn more.
The problem is that the file gets autodeleted when I try to run it. I need to deactivate the virus protection from avast, run the file, then enable protection. (Witch gave me an idea and suggestion for you that Avast should probably make some sort of scan feature for avast to search for running process that may be skipped before, and detect them.)
I just scanned the file here are the results.
I have send avast message that the file is not dangerous, however is there a way to make sure avast treats this particular file as non threat ?
Cheers!
I reported a false positive to Avast the other day. I guess it’s their policy to not respond and let me know they have the information. The program that was flagged by Avast is the firmware updater for my LG Blue Ray drive. It’s been on my computer for 2 years. But no response at all from Avast. I’m 100% sure it’s a FP but some kind of reply from Avast would be nice. I think they should spend more time communicating with their users than writing more “buy me now” popups into their program. This was my first and last file submitted to them for analysis.

it does not look very secure from the VT scan…and avast is not the only one that dont like it
The same file I downloaded about year ago just got flagged as a Trojan horse. Is there any new information about cgminer? Thanks!
