It is very annoying when working to be constantly notified that some blocking has occurred. I expect the software to be working at all times, and I expect it to block all malware, but I don’t need to be reminded that it is working each time it does the job that is expected.
It would be helpful if you could specify ‘what blocking’ message this is.
Perhaps the very annoying popups that stay front and center and on top of everything, whenever Avast has blocked a connection to a url it deems dangerous. You have to dismiss them manually or they’ll stay in the middle of your screen forever.
I agree: there needs to be a setting that prevents these alerts from popping up front and center. Avast needs to just do its job and not annoy users. Log a notification or something, or have small popup for a few seconds in the bottom right of the screen. Not in the center and not with mandatory interaction to get rid of it.
I’ve made a topic about this years ago and nothing has changed sadly.
The problem being, there is insufficient enough information in the Original post.
Anything else is speculation.
Even assuming this were an Avast Alert, if that alert isn’t thrown up, the user would be in the position of not knowing why they can’t connect to a site.
[Rundvleeskroket] is spot on. The black notice with white print covers about 30% of my screen. It almost always tells me tht it has blocked some sort of malware with a short encoded name, different each time. It reports itself with a loud signal and will no fade away without some action from me. I MUST STOP WHAT I AM DOING AND DEAL WITH IT AS I CANNOT ONTINUE WITH MY WORK! If I had an employee that interrupted me to tell me that he did a job that I hired him to do, I would fire him. I bought the software to protect me, now they interrupt me to tell me they did it or to try to upsell me to additional products that should have been included. How about only a monthly summary of activity in place of interruptions?
As I mentioned
A bit of a catch 22 situation.
That’s why you make it an option, and you show an alert in the bottom of the screen or in notifications.
Plus you more or less seem to assume the alert is triggered by a browser. It doesn’t have to be the case. A torrent client might have a url in its seedlist that was once flagged for whatever reason. Fair or not. Avast will put an alert in the middle of the screen which you have to manually dismiss, every time it sees a connection it doesn’t like. That might be every few minutes even when you aren’t using a browser.
There used to be a make a suggestion option in the UI, but for the life of me I can’t find it any more. I think it used to be in the Trouble Shooting section.
