I have 3 system files in the Virus Chest – kernel32.dll, winsock.dll, and wsock32.dll. How can these be in the Virus Chest, cannot be run, and still used by Windows XP? I don’t understand why these files are in the chest and why “SEARCH” results show them still in c:\windows\system32\ directory.
Thanks very much! How did you learn that? I like to learn stuff like this without asking but frequently when I click on help and I do not see any mention of the really important stuff.
You can learn a lot just by browsing the forums here:) and you could read all the Help files related to the Virus Chest using the Contents list instead of the Search facility, the information is there in the Help:)
Perhaps the folder that these files are stored in ought to be renamed to something like Copy of system files - do not delete to avoid new users going into a panic if they spot the files before having read the help file?
That will be the most wonderful thing… if users ask here or, better, understand the help file before going into panic.
Anyway, you’re right, the name of the folder could be more specific 8)
