chest

I read that size of chest is 256Mb. What happend when chest is full? How to empty it?
I do not understand what effekt is to move virus to chest, I think it is better to delete it, but Avast always recomend to put it in chest. Why?
And when he suggest it to delete does Avast mean to delete ONLY virus or whole file?
Thanks for your kind and competent explanation.

Right click the files, rescan, delete the infected ones (with one week old or more).

Allow restoration in case of false positives, allow rescaning, etc.

The whole file. Repair will try do remove only the infected part in a few executable files for a few kind of infections (not possible most of the time anyway).

Thanks so much, great explanations, now I understand.

Can someone tell me if I can delete these files from chest ???. Will my computer work well after that or I may have some problems :'(?
Thanks.

I really do wish Alwil would get rid of this All Chest Files collation of the three sections.

  • The only area you should be interested in is the Infected Files section, this is where the files detected by avast and selected by you to move to the chest are placed.
  • The User Files section is where the user can add files they suspect of being malware but not detected by avast.
  • The System Files section is where avast keeps back-up copies of important system files in case the original becomes infected (leave them alone).

So click on the Infected files section of the chest, and there would be probably only three files. If they are more than three weeks since they were put in the chest, the Transfer Time column (two have) then scan the files in the chest. If they are still detected then delete them from the chest.

Dear DavidR,
I did as you said. Thanks for your help and explanations!

You’re welcome.

Well, I did put my idea about fixing this particular problem with the Chest in the “Wish List” and hopefully, awil may do it or something similar.
