Chest

I keep getting rid of things in the chest and then next day the same ones are back…same dates and everything.Help!

Please could you tell us the file names and the chest locations of these files please?

Thanks,

-Scott-

I suggest:

  1. Clean your temporary files.
  2. Schedule a boot time scanning with avast with archive scanning turned on. If avast does not detect it, you can try DrWeb CureIT! instead.
  3. Use MBAM (or SUPERantispyware or even Spyware Terminator) to scan for spywares and trojans. If any infection is detected, better and safer is send the file to Quarantine than to simple delete them.
  4. Test your machine with anti-rootkit applications. I suggest avast! antirootkit or Trend Micro RootkitBuster.
  5. Make a HijackThis log to post here or this analysis site. Or even submit the RunScanner log to to on-line analysis.
  6. Disable System Restore and then reenable it again.
  7. Immunize your system with SpywareBlaster.
  8. Check if you have insecure applications with Secunia Software Inspector.

jljohnson740, please kep in mind the following. It is possible that Avast is not dettecting the main source of your infection or that there is something else happening. In either case we need more info on the files and names as spg SCOTT mentioned.

In addition, if possible can you mention other security programs that you have on your system as well as your system’s characteristics. (ie, Pentium IV, RAM, Operating system such as Windows XP SP3, etc)

if you are more handy with the computer follow Tech’s recommendations. They are built on experience and should help clean your computer.
