Esteemed, Excuse me for my little English.
I 've a problem with chkdsk in win 2K Sp1.
Avast does not allow chkdsk at reboot.
It allows only reading. Why this?
Thanks and regards,
How exactly does the problem manifest?
Why do you think it has anything do with avast?
If I reboot the chkdsk option, it does not work.
If I uninstall avast it works.
How exactly do you run chkdsk? chkdsk c: /f ?
And you’re saying that it won’t start (i.e. nothing happens during the next boot) if avast! is installed?
Yes, is exactly!
What if you go into avast! settings and on the last page (Troubleshooting), you check the “Disable avast! self-defense module” option… does it change anything for the next boot?
well, I settings and on the last page (Troubleshooting),
I check second option “avast upload services only after loading the operating system services”.
And it work exactly, resolved!
But only check the “Disable avast! self-defense module” option…
unresolved.
Thanks and Regards
Mystery… that option is related to windows logon and not boot… ???
Well, mystery it certainly is
Basically, the problem seems to be about “something” being loaded too soon - so that would be consistent.
However, avast! service certainly cannot be started at the moment when (or even befoe) the boot-time scan chkdsk is started (at that moment even the system libraries like kernel32.dll, needed for avast! service, are not yet loaded). So, this option “takes effect” later during the boot-process, not that soon… strange.
Perhaps because I have Win 2K.
I don’t think so… it’s strange for any Windows flavor…
