Chrome and Firefox infected by Roll Around Ads

Hello, everyone. Last night I was using Chrome when it closed completely on its own. I didn’t think it was a big deal, so I just reopened it - that’s when all these Roll Around Ads started popping up all over the place. I opened Firefox and saw it was infected, too. Then I went to bed angry. :stuck_out_tongue:

When I got up I immediately turned on my laptop. Upon boot-up, Avast detected the infection and removed it through Browser Clean-Up. I thought that was the end of it, but when I opened Chrome none of my previous tabs would load. Gave up after 15 minutes and re-launched Chrome only to see those damn ads again.

Please help!

an expert in the removal of malware will help you. You Have to be patient. Most specialists are located in Europe and it is already late there so you may have an answer tomorrow.

FRST was fixing my computer, but then it froze. Would it be okay if I close it and try again later?

Did it appear to freeze whilst it was deleting temporary files ?

If so close the programme and a fixlog should appear on the desktop

Alright, I closed it. Not sure if it finished the job. Sorry, but I can’t post the log right now because I need to get to work. I’ll have to get back to it late in the evening. Hope that is okay.

Of course

OK, here are the new attachments. It seems like the Roll Around Ads have been removed from Firefox (yes!). Unfortunately, Chrome is still infected. :frowning:

On the bright side, my computer is running much more smoothly than before. ;D

OK Chrome is deeply infected, so we will replace Chrome

Re-install Chrome

  1. If you have bookmarks, let’s save them by exporting them - Export Bookmarks
  2. Then I need you to go Google Sync and sign into your account
  3. Scroll down until you see the “Stop and Clear” button and click on the button. At the prompt click on “Ok”
  4. Now we need to uninstall chrome.
Note: When asked about user data or settings you must remove this also so please check the box.
  5. Restart the computer and reinstall chrome, You can download The latest version from here - Google Chrome
  6. Import your bookmarks back into Chrome
  7. Sign back in to your Chrome browser so that your bookmarks sync with your online account.

Thank you for all your help. ;D Everything is totally clean.

Now I can finally relax! Been feeling anxious all weekend.

Subject to no further problems

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

: Keep Java Updated :

WARNING: Java is the #1 exploited program at this time. The Department of Homeland Security recommends that computer users disable Java
See this article

I would recommend that you completely uninstall Java unless you need it to run an important software.
In that instance I would recommend that you disable Java in your browsers until you need it for that software and then enable it. (See How to diasble Java in your web browser and How to unplug Java from the browser)

If you do need to keep Java then download JavaRa
Run the programme and select Remove Java Runtime. Uninstall all versions of Java present
Once done then run it again and select Update Java runtime > Download and install Latest version

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/73555776/javara.JPG

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programmes:

CryptoPrevent install this programme to lock down and prevent crypto ransome ware

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/73555776/CryptoPrevent.JPG

Malwarebytes.

Update and run weekly to keep your system clean

Unchecky
