Chrome extensions security add-on

G’day all,

I’m helping out with a friend who used Chrome web browsers and what their looking is an extensions security add-on it like you add extra security features to firefox, so to all the Chrome web browser users out there on the Avast forums could you please help lead the way to find the extensions security add-on and I like to know what you have on your Chrome web browsers.

Thank you.

Sorry Speedy but this time you where a little slow:
http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=67831.msg571204#msg571204

I know about that post by Logos and I’m fully aware about this, but that is not what I am asking for and thank you Bob.

Keep in mind I don’t used Chrome browser my friend does all I’m saying is he doesn’t have any good extensions security add-on like firefox that all.

Probably because it’s a more secure browser to start with.

Will see if this is a more secure browser to start with. and I’m sure he’ll comeback and ask that he got more problem with the Chrome browser and he knows I’m using firefox with all my goodies stuff ;), but he wanted to used the Chrome browser :-[

I use AdBlock and Browser Button for AdBlock:

Thanks for that YoKenny ;D your legend.

What I don’t fully understand and why chrome.google.com doesn’t show very many extensions security add-on ??? is it because the features are to early to known available for Chrome users ???

You’re welcome.

I had to go hunting under Extensions:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore?category=ext

I tried typing adblock into the search area.

There are more items there than you can shake a stick at.

@ Speedypc: try these >>> NotScripts, BetterPopupBlocker, Ghostery

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/nmpeeekfhbmikbdhlpjbfmnpgcbeggic
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/mlomiejdfkolichcflejclcbmpeaniij

I stopped using ad-blockers in Chrome as they’re slowing down the browsing (especially this one: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/gighmmpiobklfepjocnamgkkbiglidom - adblock ). Most ads are blocked when blocking scripts so… if you want you can also add a flash blocker. Well I don’t use it, just a suggestion: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/gofhjkjmkpinhpoiabjplobcaignabnl

Thanks for that Logos ;D

You could spend almost a lifetime checking out Chrome ad-ons or extensions

I only use Chrome on my XP Pro system and it does not slow down browsing. 8)

My friend is using Win. 7 Pro :-\ which is scaring the crap out of me with this new OS :o so I’m going over their to setup for him ::slight_smile:

You’ll want a Windows 7 system after you see it. ;D

By the way it comes with Windows XP Mode that comes as a separate download:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/features/windows-xp-mode.aspx

The extra $80.00 for that feature was not worth it for me.

XP Mode is already in the Pro & Ultimate version and I aware it not avaliable in the Home Version unless they wanted to pay extra $80.00 for that feature, and beside I’m not ready just yet to grab it ;D ;D ;D

Hey Speedy !

Maybe this post will be helpfull to you…

Darth Mikey thanks for that ;D while I’m doing the research for him and to help out which add-on turn out better.

Darth Mikey did I remember years ago you had a storm-trooper avatar I’m I correct ???

Yes, he did.

Yeah i had several avatars, when i first joined the forum back in 2005 i didn’t have any photoshop skills yet so Sash made a few avatars for me and i loved his avatars so much that i decided to learn photoshop myself. Back then it was Photoshop CS2 and it had a great program for doing animations with it called ImageReady so i started using that for making animated gif’s. So now i am doing my own avatars and userbars but it was Sash that got me into it, so thanks Sash !

BTW Chrome doesn’t yet support animated PNG files, FF and Opera are the only ones that i know that support them properly. A shame cause those avatars would look great in aPNG format. So i am stuck with the GIF format but to be honest you can still make decent avatars with the GIF format, they are just not as “clean” as they could be if they were aPNG(24bit images and 8bit transparency which is something you cannot do on GIF’s).

Anyway, another nice extension for Chrome, not a security one but it sure makes it easier to navigate Chrome’s about: pages and settings:

ChromeAccess

EDIT: Fixed the link, now links to the english page…

Would be nice if the whole page was in English.

It is a nice Extension though. 8)
