Chrome online plugin blocks comments link on nbcnews.com and other news sites

I just recently (less than a week ago) did a clean install of windows 10 and avast internet security. Since doing this, the comment links on news articles won’t show up for some sites such as nbcnews.com. If I disable the extension in Chrome, the links will show up when I reload the page. Before my reinstall of windows I experienced a similar problem with the comment links not showing up, but if I reloaded the page once or twice, it would show up. I attributed it to a website issue at the time, but now see that it is being caused by the plugin. I’ve also been getting pretty frequent avast warnings about play.google.com. I just had to shut down chrome and restart it because the warnings were going off every minute or two. I then got an immediate warning when starting chrome, but it’s seemed to have chilled out for the moment. Any ideas?? New bug??
