clash?

malware anti bytes keeps popping up and telling me I have a problem, something to do with avast sv host?

screenshot included, what shall I do?

God I hate this MBAM malicious site blocking, it is more a pain in the backside than a help.

  • MBAM malicious website IP Detection reporting avastSvc.exe as process:
No avast isn’t infected. MBAM isn’t blocking avast as such, as the avastSvc.exe is the main avast service and it controls the various shields. The Web Shield routes all http traffic through its localhost proxy, so all MBAM sees is avastSvc.exe as the originating process, which is incorrect.

This is either you trying to connect to this IP via your browser or possibly a link in a site you’re viewing redirecting of getting content from that IP address.

What site were you on when this alert occurred ?

pgatour.com
and also espn.com

do I just ignore it?

Well the IP address in your first image doesn’t appear to a malicious site Level 3 Communications, so I haven’t got a clue why MBAM takes a disliking to it.

I have in all honesty found this MBAM feature to be more hindrance than help and I disabled it shortly after first using MBAM Pro. Not to mention with the avast Network Shield looking for known malicious sites and the Web Shield also protecting against infected sites, I feel this function is somewhat redundant.

ok
have had both on my comp for a year and upto until a week or so ago it was fine

It will in general be fine, until mbam bumps into an IP it doesn’t like, as I said I’m less than impressed by this mbam function.

You have to remember ‘this is not a clash between mbam and avast,’ just that mbam is reporting (incorrectly) that avastSvc.exe is the process responsible for making the connection.

cheers

No problem, glad I could help.
