The forum has 767 pages that date back to 2003. Also the beta forum needs to be cleaned up.
So what, historic data doesn’t impact the forums.
True, but why have it?
I can give you one reason, speaking as a newbie to the forums.
If I do a search on a “problem” and I see it repeatedly being asked from 2003 to 2012 that tells me something about Avast! (Or other programs that I do the same thing on.) Investigating the replies also tells me about responsiveness of the support staff.
Basically it’s an advertisement/record of avast community support – and in my opinion, worth having.
Because removing posts, etc. also has a knock on effect in everyone’s stats who has made a contribution in the forums.
Also a lot of the old topics might be of a use to someone somewhere ;D
Hi jimb11,
Isn’t that actor you portray in your avatar somewhat older than 2003? ;D
He was born Jan 24 1917 8) going by the name Ermes Effron Borgnino,
polonus
jimb, it’s preferred that you research your problem first in older posts instead of making a whole new one. If the staff deleted the posts, then that removes the references.
I hate the fact that BETA section is not even being used and that it doesn’t get purged once the product enters final stage. Instead, regular forums are flooded with BETA stuff. Not cool, but it’s how avast! team drives it… personally, i don’t like it but then again this isn’t my forum…
