Greetings
Is there some tool to clean PPT files infected with MPPT97:CVE-2006-3590 [Expl]? ??? ???
Thanks
where did you get these files?
These files are mine, I just found that they are infected and I’m trying to clean them.
Is there some tool? When Avast detect the virus there is no option to clean.
Strange… there should be delete, move to chest, repair (clean), ignore (continue)…
Nope, just Rename/Move, Delete, Move to Quarentine…
So, if repair is not available is due to impossibility of repairing. Generally, repair is only available to executable files that have been previously into the VRDB (virus recovery database from avast). In this cases, avast can ‘clean’ the infected portion of the executable file.
In most cases, repairing is just deleting the file (as the whole file is the malware/virus).
SandmanBR: have you tried to scan the files with another (online) scanner to be sure that they are really infected? i can ask the author of the detection for further analysis…
This is probably false alarm. Can I have the sample? If so, please send them to kubecj at you-know-what dot com. Please include link to this thread.
Any updates? I’ve a file here that gets snagged by Avast for the same reason.
Did you submit it to virustotal? Is it a false positive or a real malware?
If malware, did you send it to virus (at) avast (dot) com?
better to send the file directly to kubecj
Thanks for the replies. I’ve been traveling, sorry.
My wife deleted the files, I will try to find them in some backup and send them to you.
Thanks again.
Open avast Chest and see if they’re there and then you can send the files from there.
this problem is fixed internally already, afaik
