Hello All, I’m new to Avast this year. We are using an EA server and connecting our Endpoint Protection clients to it.
I’m doing a manual install and selecting the EA Client option then entering my EA server IP address. Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn’t. I can’t figure out what the problem is.
Has anyone had issue with clients not connecting to the EA server even though you specify one correctly during setup?
This isn’t a good solution, but I ended up backing up the avast settings from a computer that is working and restored them to the problem computer. The computer then registered with the EA console and was receiving updates from the server.
If anyone else has insight into the initial problem, that would still be helpful.
Once you Deploy the client, supposing that you did install the NetClient portion, you could enter the address of your EA server into the avast5.ini file. Essentially you did this when you copied the settings from another client.
Far easier would be to make a offline deployment package from the EA Console, then use this to install the clients if you must do so manually. The proper ini file will be included in the install package. In EA, create a Deployment Task and Under the install options choose the option “Just generate setup package” and enter the path where you want the install package to be located.
EA is good about automatically creating any clients deployed offline in the catalog at their first check-in (SOA not so much )
I’ve similar problem. I install avast with NetClient, but when I reboot avast is not connected to EA. So I go to control panel > install application > avast > modify and netclient is not installed. I reinstalled it, reboot, and same thing.
