Cloaked Malware Detected by Prevx...Is this a false positive?

Good Evening ! While Prevx was scanning it detected Cloaked Malware…Asoutext.dll in C\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast 5…is this a false positive ? Sincerely…Zron

Almost certainly an FP by Prevx as I believe that is the avast MS Outlook extension.

I take it you are using avast Pro or AIS ?

Since avast has its own self-defence it is unlikely something could have infected/modified it.

You could also check the file at: VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner and report the findings here the URL in the Address bar of the VT results page.

David R many thanks for your prompt response. I’m using A.I.S…and as a follow up just scanned with Malwarebytes Pro and Hitman Pro…both came up no infection found. I’ll check as per your recommendation with Virus Total…and have left a message with Prevx support and on Wilders Prevx Support Forum. Sincerely…Zron
