[Closed] Mouse click does not work when Avast is opened (Win10 Home)

Problem #1: When I open Avast free antivirus user interface (20.3.2405) my mouse clicks does not work anywhere on the screen. I have to press alt+tab to make it to work. I was facing this problem in earlier versions also. However, updating it to latest version has not helped.

Problem #2: Notifications from Avast stays on the screen for about 2 minutes. My attempt to close it by mouse does not work. Possibly related to problem #1.

I could not even click on “About Avast” on the system tray. I had to use the keyboard with tabs and then use enter to get the version information.

I am using a USB mouse. Win10 Home 1909 18363.778). However, I have had this problem for about a year now and I don’t think it is related to Win10 version.

How do I get this resolved? These have become very annoying.

Follow instructions: https://support.avast.com/article/33/ and post your File-ID here afterwards.

It generated the diagnostic file but did not generate File ID. At the support side for free version there is no provision to submit a ticket.

Also I noticed that this problem is only on my laptop (Dell). On my other Desktop with same versions (Win10 and Avast) I don’t see this problem.

  1. Try again, if you don’t get a File-ID provide the file name.
  2. That’s why I told you to post it here.

What mouse exactly do you use? Any name, model, …?
Any special control software for the mouse?

I ran again. I am attaching the screenshots of the scan completion and the contents of the .zip it generated. I wonder how it helps if file name is given. Here are the two file names generated. “20200507_0546_VTT55_2418242752.zip” and “20200508_0403_I30K2_2418242752.zip”

I tried using the laptop trackpad. Same problem. Apart from the standard ones in the laptop, I use wireless keyboard (logitech) and USB mouse (Glink). My wireless mouse stopped working and so am using USB mouse for time being. Basically I have 2 keyboards, 3 mouse drivers installed. Here is the screenshot of device manager.

As Igor joined the thread, please answer his questions and follow his advice.

Thanks appreciate your efforts.

I found the cause of the problem. It is due to the script that I was running that corrects mouse clicks. When I closed the script, I no longer have this problem. Thanks to the time and effort to Asyn and igor

You’re welcome and thanks for the feedback.
