CloudScout

Can you please register CloudScout as a virus. It’s taken over my web browsers with all these “Ad By CloudScout” ads to dodgy links that Avast recognises as dodgy but nothing gets rid of Cloud Scout.

CloutScout is not a virus, it is a PUP.

After running Malwarebytes, Adwcleaner, Avast, Avast boot time scan and Hitman, Cloud Scout is still on my computer. Anything that is that resistant to being removed should have a nastier classification than just PUP.

It can only be registered as a virus if it is a virus, which it is not.

quote VB100

Virus Program that infects other files

The term ‘computer virus’ is often used as a general term for all types of malware, including trojans and other non-replicating malicious code. In a stricter sense ‘virus’ applies only to self-replicating malware, and even more specifically only to code which infects other files on the local system (rather than spreading from one system to another in the form of an unchanging file, as is the case with most worms).

The first use of the term ‘computer virus’ is attributed to Fred Cohen who used it in 1983 during a seminar on computer safety at Lehigh University. He used the term on the recommendation of his advisor, Prof. Leonard Adleman who, it is claimed, picked the name from science fiction novels. Fred Cohen’s original definition of a computer virus as of 1983 was: a program that can "infect" other programs by modifying them to include a possibly evolved copy of itself'. He updated the definition a year later in 1984 in his paper entitled Computer viruses - theories and experiments’.

CloudScout is an adware program, that displays pop-up ads and advertisements on web pages that you visit. These advertisements will be shown as boxes containing various coupons that are available, as underlined keywords, pop-up ads or advertising banners.

CloudScout will inject pop-up ads, advertising banners and in-text ads within your web browser
Adware detected in the CloudScout program (CloudScout.exe, CloudScout-bg.exe, CloudScout-bho64.dll, CloudScout-nova.exe)
Integrates into the web browser via the CloudScout browser extension
Typically distributed through a pay-per-install bundle or with third-party software (example: CNET installer, Softonic Installer, InstallRex installer and many more)
CloudScout has a poor reputation within the MalwareTips Community

if you want help removing it, you need to attach the logs from the guide Eddy gave link to

Step 1-To uninstall the CloudScout program from your PC .open your systems Control Panel and then select Uninstall a program option under the programs category, then scroll through the list of currently installed programs and uninstall CloudScout Parental Control, CheckMeUp, CloudGuard, Desktop Temperature Monitor and other unnecessary Programs
In the event that you are having issues while attempting to uninstall the CloudScout program, you can use Revo Uninstaller to completely remove this unwanted program from your machine.

Step 2- Remove CloudScout adware from your Browser with the help of AdwCleaner

Download AdwCleaner (http://adwcleaner.1800download.com/ )
This is mainly targeted at add-ware and annoying toolbars and so on but also great at evacuating browser hijacks
Before starting AdwCleaner, close all open programs and internet browsers, then double-click on the AdwCleaner icon.
The AdwCleaner utility will scan your PC and web browser for the “CloudScout” malicious records, browser extensions and registry keys that may have been installed on your PC without your knowledge.

Step 3 : Remove “CloudScout” virus with Avast and Immunet Free

You can Download Avast from https://www.avast.com/en-in/index
You can Download Immunet from http://www.immunet.com/free/index.html

Immunet Free uses industry-driving cloud based Innovative technology to identify and remove all traces of malware, including worms, Trojans, spyware, and more. Using these two programs together provides your PC an excellent security as per my own personal experience.
It is important to note that Immunet works well and should run alongside traditional antivirus software without conflicts.
Run a full Antivirus scan from there. Also remember to clear out all temp files and delete any restore points.

Step 4: Reset your browser settings to remove “CloudScout” Ads

I’ll try this that propose you, but I already used Avast and Adaware without result.

You should turn PUP-detection on to catch these adware/riskware PUP detections.
