The file CMCTrayIcon.exe of CMC Antivirus/CMC Internet Security is currently detected as Win32:Shiz[Spy] by avast!, this is a false positve detection.
After having installed and updated CMC Antivirus, you should have this file:
hxtp://www3.cmcinfosec.com/downloads/setupCMCAV.exe
Furthermore, I think avast! should automatically whitelist signed files of CMC Antivirus/CMC Internet Security.
Of course, I never install 2 antiviruses on the same machine but this clearly means that avast! has some signature which is not good enough and avast! team should improve it.
Hi bolzano_1989: Can you please show a screenshot that Avast detects it. Because according to Jotti scan as shown by Pondus, it is undetected by Avast (I know Jotti may not give correct impression about an AV’s detection)
If you know that you should never have two AV’s on a system then how did you get the detection ??? as mentioned never install two av’s together as you will get problems and false positives, that being said i believe when version 7 stable is released it will have a compatibility install procedure which will then allow you to have avast installed with another antivirus.
He is downloading the installer of that other antivirus, and is the installer that “would” be detected, before installing the antivirus itself (but the report is saying that it isn’t, so it’s fine).
Having said that, the OP is not about the installer, but about a file contained as part of the package, after expanding the installer. So this is confusing; is the other AV already installed? If it is not, then there shouldn’t be any problem (as the installer itself can be downloaded and scanned as OK).
Of course, if you run the downloaded installer in the same system where avast is still installed, then you indeed would have a problem.
So, you friend has already installed other antivirus (at least, it seems like it), and now avast is also installed? If this is the case, this is a conflict between 2 resident security tools.
You might be correct, but having 2 resident security tools at the same time is not the way to do it.
If both are resident antivirus, one of them must be uninstalled (and then run the specific removal utility to get rid of remnants).
If the 2 security tools have different goals / functions, then your friend need to add mutual exclusions / exceptions so to avoid conflicts between them.
