is there some way to turn off the little popup in right
hand screen corner when running command line scan??

using avast pro 6

many thanks!!

I dont think there is a permanent soloution to not have the scan box showing but you can close it and the scan will still continue.

yea, i know i can close it, but i was hoping there must be some way to turn it off…it’s not a big deal, but i would like to find some way to do it…it just annoys me…

many thanks… ;D

Your welcome

Maybe someone else might pop in with some knowledge about wheather there is a registry or ini file modification to help you.

Is this the pop-up you are talking about (see image, ignore the scan name) ?

Whilst I don’t use the Pro version, so haven’t got the command line scan, but I’m wondering if the /silent switch would also kill the scan notification pop-up window, or if it might bring undesired effects. I don’t see it in the avast Help for the command-line scanner, Command line parameters though.

yes, that is the one i’m talking about, down in right hand corner…how do you use the /silent switch??..i will give it a try… ???

there must be a parameter in the avast.ini file or something…
there has to be a parm somewhere to turn this off…

many thanks for any help…

Presumably that switch gets added at the end of the command line or after the command and before the areas to be scanned. You will have to try it and see as I can’t check it as I don’t have avast Pro.

As far as I’m aware there isn’t an ini parameter, but I guess if you were to enable Silent/Gaming mode that would stop it. However it would also apply to all other avast notification pop-ups.

davidr…

i will try the /silent switch and see what happens…

many thanks…

the /silent switch does not work…
silent/gaming mode does work though…
what are the popups, messages etc. that i will miss if i
leave the gaming mode switch on??

many thanks…

You’re welcome.

Bummer /switch parameter doesn’t work, it was used in another function and I was hoping that it might have worked.

Presumably you wouldn’t get the virus definitions update pop-up notifications or the alert window either I believe, nor any other interactive/information event pop-up.

davidr…

if i leave the gaming mode switch on i am assuming that all the functions for which the msgs would be displayed will still complete properly…only thing is that i just will not receive the popup, alert or etc., is this correct?? i should be able to check the status of any completed function for which i did not receive a popup, alert, etc. by opening the gui and checking the logs, right??

many thanks…

Sorry I don’t use gaming mode so I don’t have any practical experience of it.
