Hi all, I am a bit confused about which product to pick! 
I need an application that can tell me if a particular file is virus free or not.

Welcome to the forum SDSF.
Once avast! is installed. it will also tell you if the program is clean and/or
warn you if it’s infected.
Right click on any program and scan it to see if it’s clean or simply attempt to
run the program and avast! will be checking the program before it’s allowed to run.
