no, a short time, i used mcafee. (hadn’t the info i have now)
but shortly after recognizing the huge speed drop i looked 4 something else.
then i used avira, which worked well some time on w95 these days. then had update issues with it and changed 2 avast. b4 i did a in depth lookup on any products available & tested them myself, as i didn’t fully trust the av-tests out there. (some vendors pay 4 good results)
so, i would say from the early 90ies avast made it possible. applause
but please always consider a good av is only the starting point of any well protected system!!!
so i would say, since then: 98% avast 2% the rest… ;D
asyn
edit: huh. 4got the second question… yes!!! no more infections of any kind on any of my systems since then.!!! (except some lso-cookies, which i also can handle now) counting and hoping and learning and protecting.
just adding, I’ve been running the RC and the two final versions: same problem experienced on all versions, either immediately after install and first reboot or a couple of hours later: no way to log in in Win7/64 >>> go to save mode and realize that CIS cannot be uninstalled in safe mode because services don’t run in safe mode, and the protection is rather strong. Only way out is a system restore. Had this three times already with CIS4 : (together with either AIS running with firewall and sandbox uninstalled, or together with Avast 5 “free”, same results, a disaster happening randomly).
I guess this was a joke, I was talking about CIS anti-termination protection. OK this said, Asyn, I’ve been a Comodo user for years ::), and switched to AIS very recently. All I can tell from my testing of V4 in W7/64 is there’s a huge bug interfering with the system at boot time; I’ve reproduced it several times now.
agreed yep, and the argument of just deactivating UPNP on the router (as advised by the MalwareByte dev) doesn’t convince me either…,not mentioning that router’s firewalls often don’t offer an easy to tweak outbound protection, and that configuring properly the inbound interface, always on the router, is time consuming…it’s just a very unfriendly interface.
No joy for me. There is a big improvement over RC1 but still I am only able to reach 330/340 in CLT even with sandboxing disabled. I spent hours at the forum trying to figure it out, but I couldn’t. So I am back to version 3.14 and everything is well. Maybe I’ll try again when 4.1 comes out.
