just for curiosity i’d like u to leave comments about Comodo AV beta here…i prefer comments for ppl who have tested it…i’ve read reviews from different websites and the majority of them says that Comodo AV sucks…i have Comodo firewall and its very good though…that’s y i want to know about Comodo AV…to see if its as gd as their firewall or worse than it…

Because it uses it’s own virus definitions, it really lacks of detection rate.

that’s y i created this topic here(at general disussions)…i don’t want to switch to Comodo AV…i like AVAST a lot…i’m just curious coz one of my hobbies is testing the AV and evaluate them but i don’t want to unistall avast coz it works like a charm in my pc so i’m asking from ppl who has tested comodo to tell me their comments…

no doubt on that…avast is better than commercial “gold award” AV like AVG,Norton etc and it won’t be better than comodo beta??? :wink:

It doesn’t matter to me how good Comodo products are. I just don’t trust Comodo. They just want everybody to forget about their infamous Trust Toolbar:

Hello,

Comodo’s Trust toolbar was considered a spyware because of how it did its job, however it is in fact not, many trusted antispyware vendors have removed Comodo Trust Toolbar from detection because they looked into Trust Toolbar deeper and found that it was indeed not spyware. A list is available HERE.

As for Comodo Antivirus, it is a beta, it is not finished and it is the first antivirus to have HIPS built in, so it will give you more protection (a virus isn’t a problem if it cannot get in) so detection is not needed as much. However detection is still very important which is why Comodo’s antivirus database is updated very often with new threats.

As I said it is a beta product, so comparing it to currently finished antivirus products is not a completely fair.

yeah i know that comparison with finished AV oriducts is not fair…the only thing i’m asking is comments about the Comodo AV…i read some reviews from sites and the majority of them says that comodo av uses lots of ram and causes many problems in ur machine…sime others say that it has terrible detection…i’m sure that when its finished it will be improved but will it be as good as other free AV?(as Antivir,AVAST,AVG,AOL Internet suite,Active virus shield etc.)

Yes, however if you will notice, those reviews are on beta 1.1 which is an early beta, the newer beta versions (2.x.x.x) are much more stable and are much better in features and detection, as for being as good, as avast! and other antivirus programs, most likely not at first, but I believe they will catch up, just like their firewall did.

Unfortunately it's still preventing me from running my server. The post that I made some time in their forum was never answered. For me, there are many other choices which don't block programs unless asked to do so. But, that's just my personal opinion. As far as their Av program goes, it still has a long way to go. Again, IMHO. :) I'm still here and still very happy with [b]avast![/b]. :)

I had never heard of a Bob3160 on the Comodo Forums which is why I assumed he had registered under a different name, but a quick members search proved me wrong, anyways I just replied and am waiting for Bob :slight_smile:
