comodo firewall

hi just downloaded comodo can i install comodo firewall only?
if yes how to do,any help appreciated.
is comodo compatible wit avast?would it cause any probems?

Comodo Firewall runs fine with Avast! Watch the installation instructions carefully, and you will have an opportunity to install just the Firewall and HIPS (D+) and not the antivirus or the SafeSurf/Ask Toolbar.

For about 3 months I’ve had the full installation - AV, not toolbar etc. - and just have the AV turned off.

No problems; AV still updates and I can stop Avast and run CIS AV on demand as another check.

This isn’t advised and is more down to luck than design, resident AVs load low level device drivers and these are what hook files so they can scan files before being launched. So it could be like two dogs fighting over one bone (conflict). You only have to browse these forums to see these conflicts.

This can result in varying degrees of conflict from simply slowing your system because of the duplicate scanning to a full block freeze, this can even happen on boot effectively locking you out.

There should have been popups and checkboxes along the way that asked you to choose what you wanted to install. If you have already installed it all, then under "add/remove programs" or "Programs and Features", depending on your OS, there should be options to remove the Comodo Antivirus and the Ask Toolbar. As DavidR said, conflicts are possible even where some users haven't hit them yet.

I can’t believe that Comodo entered in Ask Toolbar affairs… Any toolbar affair… :
SpywareTerminator did the same thing with the bloatware Crawler Toolbar…

it did not give me an option
when i went to ad and remove then asked if i wanted to install firewall or security i checked firewall and it installed the toolbar,so i uninstallad all to be in the safe side
