I get this message (CompatTelRunner.exe is trying to open a Web page using a secure connection (HTTPS)) from Avast on a daily basis. CompatTelRunner.exe is a recent update from Microsoft, so that’s not the problem.
(1) Why is it trying to open a page I didn’t ask it to?
(2) How can I tell Avast to let it go?
thanks!
I’m getting the same message. Web searches are not providing answers. And clicking “Remember my answer” doesn’t seem to work because it keeps recurring every day.
Yup. Same here, although it has now stopped asking about CTR. It now asks me about Esu and Gwx, or something. Also probably new files from some update or other.
What MAY have done it is that I finally answered by clicking the “friends” level up one dot. Try that.
Yes, this is super annoying. One, because it’s every day (Why doesn’t it “Remember my answer?”) and two, because it’s a Microsoft-owned/signed binary! C’mon Avast…
Anyone? This is happening at least once per reboot. I’m selecting “Remember my answer” and, honestly, it’s signed by Microsoft Corporation in green. Saying “Remember my answer” (Access policy: Internet out) and being signed by Microsoft Corporation should mean “please don’t ask me again,” right?
