I’ve been looking for ways to upgrade my aging computer recently, and suddenly this appears:

Why is my antivirus telling me how to shop?

Its “recommendation” isn’t even the same thing. WTF???
Thing is, you can close it but you can’t disable it without uninstalling the toolbar. Every single page I open, it has to but in with its “recommendations” which seem to be completely random and somewhat irrelivant to what I’m shopping for.
Last time I checked this is “Avast! Antivirus”, not “Avast! Shopsmart”.
/end rant.

You can disable it in the toolbar settings, or you can uninstall it altogether via Programs and Features > Uninstall/Repair.
Using a custom install you get to choose what ends up on your system.
Thank you, I have disabled it and am enjoying shopping interuption-free
