Hi,
How can I completely shut Avast down until I restart? I learned long ago that some utilities such as Disk Defrag work much faster with all the “TSR”-type applets in the System Tray also shut down. When I disable the different parts of Avast I still have an icon in the System Tray. I’ve used Task Manager to close out some more parts but the icon is still there. Anything in there is seen by the System Resource Monitor as using resources, whether “active” or “disabled”, right?. So what gives?? Why can’t I shut it down?
Some recommend running defrag from safe mode to get rid of non essential stuff.
Personally I don’t use windows defrag except for analysis to see if a drive needs defragmentation as its soooo slowww.
I use Power Defragmentor - RejZoRs - eXcessive-software.eu.tt Site This is real fast and doesn’t require me to shutdown anything, just don’t do any other work.
I echo that DavidR I use the contig defrag, it’s fast good and easy
