I am very angry with the latest builds of Avast. I use licensed IS. I first saw the problems on version 5.1 - official build.
I try to install the update of f.e. DaemonTools 4.40.2 from the LAN HDD. Setup runs, but after I click next to the license terms or later, the installer freezes - then explorer and then keyboard and mouse. There is no other possibility - hard reset. I use Win7 Pro 32-bit. Am I the first one having this problems?
This problem was, as I wrote, introduced in 5.1.864 and persists in 6.0.1000, too.
When I disable shields, the installer completes successfully.
I am unable to use Avast, because it freezes my system very often in the case of installing programs - maybe more when installing from LAN HDD, I am not sure…
hi, i have similar issue as u, same thing as u, my problems start with Avast 5.1.899, and now in Avast 6, but the different is that it freeze my whole system when deleting files, sometime winrar file, sometime avi files, today, after updated to avast 6 i got the freeze again while i attempt to download a 7zip file, it freezed the moment the file start its download. 1 thing i had notice is the freezing problem usually goes away after a definition update, and comes back again maybe in a few days after another new definition update, i had long suspected that it is due to some definition updates that is causing the freezing problem. Same as u, i had tested with avast shields disabled, it doesn’t freeze, the moment i enable the shields, and it freezed again when i attempt to delete the abovementioned files. i dunno what exactly is the problems, but i am sure that avast is causing the freeze. uninstall n reinstall doesn’t fix the problem, only the next round of definiton update fix the freezing problem, but it will comes back again after a few definition update later. I hope avast support is aware of this issue and will fix it soon.By the way, my system is running Window XP SP3.
