Components not working

Hi - I need some help here - my Avast reports the following “The following components could not be started : IM shield, P2P shield, File system shield”
No matter what I do, they will not switch on. Is this normal? ???

Repair avast:

  1. Control Panel - Add/Remove programs - avast!
  2. Scroll down and click on ‘Repair’.
  3. Follow instructions.
