computer+avast update checks when?

i notice today on the main avast page, there was a update to vps. but i had not received it yet. could it be on next avast update check, i would have received it? is there anyway to know when avast on my computer send out a request for possible updates. i have never had any problems with avast.

Check the about avast (right click the avast ‘a’ icon) and report what VPS version you have ?
The latest version is 000780-0.

What are your auto update settings, Program Settings, Update (Basic) ?

all settings are default. update(basic) set to automatic. i guess i would have got todays update, when avast on my computer sent out it next update request. i would like to know how often and when, avast sends out a request for possible updates. i went ahead and did a manual update today.

There are no set frequency for updates, they are released as required and ready. See avast! VPS Updates History to get an idea of the frequency.

The reason for asking what VPS update you had was to try and find out how long (if at all) the VPS updates haven’t been working and try to get to the bottom of why they aren’t working, that no longer is an option.

Depending on your connection method, avast checks for updates each time you connect to the internet and again after 4 hours if you remain connected, if one is available it will be downloaded and installed.

prior to my manual update today, the last three updates are as follows: vps 000 778-4 on 10/05/07; vps 000 778-5 0n 10/05007; vps 000 779-0 on 10/07/07. these three listed update were all automatic. thank you for your quick reply. i will keep eye on updates listed on main avast page and avast log here.

It seems you only missed the one VPS update so it wasn’t a long standing problem, hopefuly only a temporary glitch, to monitor as you say.
