Computer being taken over by stopping protection

This laptop is my Wife’s computer and she has started having issues. It has log on accounts, mine which is the admin and hers which is limited. I updated windows with several restarts and added Microsoft Office Professional with many more restarts upgrading all. I installed several Comodo products. I installed MBAM and could not update it, would freeze. Avast Internet Security has protections that have been turned off and will not restart. Comodo antivirus will not update. I tried running RougeKiller, it would not complete. I uninstalled JAVA. I have attached files as per your site. OTL did not save an Extras file on my desktop.

Have you tried to update MBAM from safe mode…

Or try this
http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/chameleon/
https://helpdesk.malwarebytes.org/entries/20872371-Use-Chameleon-to-run-Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware-on-infected-systems

also installing multiple AV (comodo - avast) will give you a slow machine, windows errors and false detections

With Comodo Av and Avast you will get some conflicts. You need to have only one antivirus on the computer otherwise they will fight like dogs over a bone when a file is accessed

So one will need to be uninstalled

Pondus: I tried Chameleon first with no luck. Restarted in safe mode and MBAM updated, is runing now with 13 threats so far. I will uninstall the Comodo antivirus.

essexboy: will uninstall Comodo when MBAM finishes. Thanks!

you only have to run a quick scan…

Opps, I started a full scan, should I stop it and restart on quick scan?

stop it, remove what it found attach log … the try a new quick

full scan can take a looooong time
quick covers all areas used by activly running malware

Aborted long scan, attached log, said to restart to remove infections, let restart in normal mode, uninstalled Comodo antivirus, ran MBAM quick scan, attached log. Still can not start; IM Shield, P2P Shield, File System Shield in Avast. Says needs restart, have restarted several times since noticed this and continues to say it. Removed and saved log, attached. Need to restart again.

Sorry, last reply might be confusing:

“Removed and saved log, attached. Need to restart again.”

This is related to MBAM scan.

OK could you run a fresh OTL now please selecting all users and I will remove anything left over… Also what problems are you experiencing ?

Thanks in advance! Currently I can not turn on 3 of the Avast shields, it says that it needs to restart for updates but does not when the computer restarts. MBAM still will not update from normal start up. Internet slow and glitch. No “extras” log for OTL again.

OK lets now do a bit of tidying up and then do a clean install of Avast

Warning This fix is only relevant for this system and no other, using on another computer may cause problems

Be advised that when the fix commences it will shut down all running processes and you may lose the desktop and icons, they will return on reboot

Run OTL

Attached Reports. When was using Avast uninstall utility and it came up in safe mode, it asked me for the location, all I found was Avast sandbox folders and put these for it to uninstall. I uninstalled Google Chrome and Comodo dragon.

Has Avast installed properly now ?

Yes. A scan found nothing.
