computer crushed after installing avast

first of all im sorry for my bad english…

i have msi leptop ,and last night i had installed the new avast home antivirus. before that i usd the free ver of avg antivirus, i removed it before the istallation of avast .

i chose to run a full scan on the coputer, and after a while everthing just stoped ???. the coputer didnt response to enything.
i resterted the coputer only to discover that it refuses to load the opareting system (vista).
today i took the computer to the store and the technician said to me after a quick check that the whole hard drive is badly damaged!! >:(
well since i am still under full warranty they will replace my hard drive with no charge.

can any one please tell me what was the problem??? is avast is that strong :o??? if ill download it again, is there any possibility that it would do the same problem ?

avast can’t damage your hard disk, it’s a software, not a hardware problem maker…
Maybe the two facts are unrelated: disk problems and the installation of avast.
What kind of errors were you having with the disk?
What is this exactly?

Using “Add/remove Programs” (or whatever it is called in Vista) is not enough to remove all the AVG components which will cause problems.

You need to use the AVG uninstall tool before avast will work correctly.

Lol. I feel ya. Anyway, this is what it’s called in Vista.

Thanks, scythe … I’ll try to remember it.
