I used a flash disk or mem stick via a USB port on a Windows ME machine, everything was fine, until I reinstalled the active webscreen and clicked right down on the bar. Now the macine does not detect the mem stick on drive E and doesn’t give the incon down in the toolbar, the memstick flashes when i connect it,
so I think the USB port is OK, but somehow I lost something, how to get it back, or is this a usb failusre? Please help.
Tried to find the hardware through configuration, then it said the NTKERN VXD device programs cannot load the device driver code 3, in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE in enum and USB I marked all VID_ values and delted them (don’t for keyboard and mouse), close, and hoped the driver would be restored, but it was not.
Downloaded a system restore upload for ME.
Now finally I think I cannot restore the program through the software, and I think of a loose contact on the motherboard, because the bios make the USB stick blink, or some trouble on the southbridge condensor. It is not a power problem because I have external power for a fourway USB hub, it must be something with the USB controller hardware. What could the likely cause be? How do I restore the damage done in the set up (registry restore)? Installed USB ready program, this says USB driver connection is functioning correctly, still I cannot see it on the desktop.
Hmmm…Did you try checking for support on your OS’s website?
Also try ( in extreme cases and after yousaved the files and folders you need [ just incase]) to reinstall your OS. I think you don’t lose any files.
And also I think on your OS’s CD you should find [somewhere + if it is included i nstandard edition] where it enables you to repair any damage done.
Well after all it was a software problem, a program conflicting with a dll, and so gradually the configuration got corrupted.
Fresh system install, and saved what could be saved.
Anyway back on board here,
Surf safe, and take an extra inch of caution before you install anything, even if it is so-called legit.
