Computer Error w/ Avast Home 4.8 installed

Hi all I am new with Avast…my computer started to go wrong after installing the 4.8 Home:

  1. I cannot check my hotmail with Internet explorer, the problem is that I can see the e-mail topics, but when I click in, it is entirely white in the e-mail ocntent part. I tried to disable the auto defence but it did not solve the problem.

  2. No IE pop up was allowed (even the auto defence is shutted down)

  3. I tried to uninstall the programme, but it did not improve

  4. I tried to use “system restore”, but it just have no response after I click it. Same results in safe mode.

  5. Many other functions were also disabled, like the windows “Help”

which other security programs (antivirus, antispyware, firewall) do you use?

did you use any other antivirus-programs before? yes, norton 2003 was installed on this system and was deleted before installation

When you say Norton 2003 was deleted before avast installation, do you mean that literally and not uninstalled ?

It might be worth running the NAV removal tool as it is notorious for the remnants left behind.

Well… I can’t see a direct relationship between IE popups, system restore in safe mode, windows help… and avast…
Are you upgrading from 4.7 or it’s a clean installation of 4.8?
