Does the following ring a bell?
My computer with windows 10 and Avast secure browsers experiences multiple freezes(*) a day. I’m trying to figure out if there’s a common factor, and thus far I’ve noticed a long time without freezing when I close most tabs in the browser. My webmail is open, google agenda is open, and nothing else.
Normally speaking I have many tabs open, notably facebook, youtube, a few tabs with google search and the results, stuff like random nerd tutorials, github, expressiv.
Perhaps it is just a coincidence but the past few days everything is okay when I close the tabs, and 3 to 4 freezes a day when not.
I’m currently in the process of extending the amount of tabs that I keep open, to see if I find a problematic website/tab. That’s not a quick process as I cannot be sure a freeze would have happened or not.
(*) I don’t know if it’s the same every time, but a couple of times I noticed that I first loose keyboard+mouse, and seconds later the rest of the computer. I have seen a clock increasing from, for instance, 17:39 to 17:40, at the beginning of such a freeze. Eventually nothing works, including ping to the computer.
