Computer Hangs

This problem has been occurring frequently in the past few days.

I am using Mozilla as a browser. I can be looking at page or trying to sign into an on line mail when the page freezes or hangs. It doesn’t seem to happen on a particular site. It even happens while at the Avast Forum. The hour glass runs but won’t complete the process. I can’t click off the page and there is no way to stop the loading. The Task Manager shows the processes are not responding. Sometimes a MS message comes up to send the report to MS. I have sent some reports. I try to restart the computer but nothing budges. I try to even turn off but again nothing budges. I can’t even turn off the computer with the off/on button. The only way to turn off the computer is to turn off the power strip switch. Then I can turn it on again and computer is fine.
I have done a virus scan and a Spybot scan. The virus scan was OK. The Spybot brought up a “Teknum Update”. I fixed the Teknum Update, but it continues to appear.

Any suggestions to correct this hanging problem would be appreciated.

probably the temperature of the motherboard is too much high: can you measure it with a motherboard sensor? Most of this problems are with laptops.

Today in the US it is MOTHER’S DAY.
But this mother can not sense what you mean. :frowning:

Emma, it could be the teknum program causing this problem. Go to this address and read about this. Go HERE to read about it.

sorry, Emma: my poor english don’t make me able to understand if your phrase is a joke ;D or your response about the temperature of your processor deck.! ;D ;D ;D Are you using a laptop pc?

Sorry, it was a joke, but a very bad bad joke. ;D

No laptop.

Emma, does this occurence happen only while your using Mozilla? Does it also happen if you use your I.E. or another browser?

Is the mother’s day the same in Italy… yesterday ;D Sometimes, some tools (like screen-capturers or other graphical utilities) may cause this problems 'cause the high resource of memory stress the processor… so, the temperature grows.

Just Mozilla, I only use IE to update MS

Well, okay, has it done this for a very long period of time while using Mozilla? Or did it just recently start. You may want to uninstall and re-download Mozilla. Might be something setting wise in Mozilla that has been changed causing a conflict with this Teknum. I know that’s not a viable choice on dial up but it may work, just a thought.

I’m sorry 'cause I leave you without a solution (i must go in bed… 3.23 AM!!!) but I see you have Neal who’s helping you! I’m sure the problem is named Mr. Fahreneit!!! ;D ;D ;D

Good Night!!!

Goodnight also to Neal! Bye…

Goodnite Kamulko, have a good nites rest.

I am not totally convinced that the 2 are related. I just happened to see the teknum thing when I ran the spybot and added that information to my post. The hanging of Mozilla may be unrelated to it.
I have saved the download from Mozilla so that is no problem to reinstall.

Maybe some others will have some ideas tomorrow, so won’t do anything just yet.
Thanks, Neil
Thanks, Kamulko.

Your more than welcome Emma. Yes waiting to get more input from someone else may help you to resolve the problem. It as you say might be something other than the teknum possibility.
