I got this twice while copying from a data dvd to my USB HD.

Do I blame theHD? Memory scanned perfect over & over again.

Just few threads below and you would find this:

http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=12424.0

I know it’s not helping much, but at least you’ll find direct answers from Alwil team and you’ll find out what to do next. I guess, you’ll have to send some Mini Dump files to Vlk (Ondrej)

Cheers !

We’ve danced around the memory issue over 3 different threads.
I don’t have a problem with memory in my computer.

All simms tested out error free, with the Avast teams suggested memory
tester Plus the memory tester suggested my my hardware vendor.

I ran both testing programs, 3 times each, no errors. NONE

John

Well, that’s good, but have you read everything Vlk said in that thread ? The part regarding Mini Dumps ? That way they can find out what could be causing the problem, and that way find possible solution…

See here what he said:

Alternatively, it could be a collision with another program running on your machine.

Anyway, without the dumps, it’s really very hard to say.

Thanks
Vlk

Cheers !

As Sash suggested, please send your minidumps to vlk@asw.cz - couple of the latest \windows\minidump* files. Thanks.

As per your request, minidumps sent. The last problems I had
pointed at faulty memory, that’s why I was reluctant to go there,
been there done that etc. memory is good.

What are you using to read the minidumps?

John

Thanks for those files, but it shows there’re problems with freeing/copying memory… >:(
Is it possible to run a computer only with one memory, then if BSOD appears, switch to the other one, and so on ? I think, it’s hardware problem…

Sometime within the next week or 2, I am going to
give up my internet account, or switch to a dialup.

at that time, all this will be a moot point anyways.
Until then, I will disable the antivirus when I need
to move lots of large files.

John

PK: The files that showed memory problems were OLD files.
The 2 latest ones I sent you, you said in email that one was garbled & unreadable,
the other showed a conflict with the firewall.

I have 3 more fresh minidumps if you wish to peruse them.

Memory has been tested & retested & retested, in both machines,
Microsoft memory test, AND the memory test you guys recommended.
Everything comes up with no faults.

First John

Send me those 3 minidumps, thanks.

Thanks for them. I sent you a long email, check it out ;).

I haven’t seen the email yet, when it arrives I will study it carefully

Thank you
