Computer slow and unable update MS Security Update

Compaq Mini on XP Home SP3 1 Gb memory.
System very slow, hangs often. Unable install KB2742597. Tried several workarounds posted on Net. Appears it could not find netfx.msi. Downloaded Dotnetfx.exe, extracted netfx.msi. nevertheless, when installing update it tells me it can´t find the file and prompts me to search. I do and present it, but update appears to not recognize it.

i wonder if I have malware that disabled the Net framework 1.1 in order to have access to my compouter.

Any help appreciated.

I am attaching/pastings logs as required. Extyras.txt did not materialize…

Regards

qim

Hello Essexboy

Sorry I did not come back before but I was travelling and using a Vodafone dongle. The cleanup tool wiped off the :Net 2.00 needed by Vodafone and I ended up without connection to Internet. By the time I managed to install/unistall, restore to previous point, etc and finally managed to reinstall Vosafone, which installed .Net 2.00 I ended up without credit. I am now back home and MS Update is trying to install 3.5 without success. originally I had 1.1, 2.00, 3.00, 3.5, 4.0. Now all I have is 2.0 installed by Vodafone.

What should I do now’

Thank you very much

Install dot net 4.0 from the link in my previous post and then try updates

Sorry for delay, once again. I did that and spent the whole day updating. However, now I am unable to install Kb928416 and KB2468871…

I have tried everything following MS webpages advice.

More net updates… If you do not use any net capable programmes then I would suggest ignoring it
