Computer switches off

Hi,

I’m a french girl so sorry for the bad english.
I have a problem with my computer : it switches off by itself at any time. When I switch it on again, everything seems normal, no error message or whatever. As it’s not a battery problem, I made a full scan with avast 4.7 “family edition”. It didn’t find anything. But when I read the log, I can read this :

C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\system.LOG [E] Le processus ne peut pas accéder au fichier car ce fichier est utilisé par un autre processus (32)

translated it gives something like , no scan possible for this file because file is already used by another process
moreover i can’t open this file
so could someone help me because I’m not at very good at computer things and I don’t have a clue about what happens to my computer.

Thanks

cetunka

System.log is part of windows event viewer so it is not a problem. The switching off may be part of an overheating problem

Is this a laptop? if so does it still happen while it’s plugged in? As essexboy stated it could be over heating so check that the fans are working and that it’s not full of dust/dirt.

Hi guys,

thank you for your answers.
I have indeed a laptop and I checked the fans and I think the switching off of the computer comes from them.

Glad to help.

And a belated Welcome to the forums.
